What Does a Custom Mural Cost?
Every mural is unique, and your quote should reflect that! The cost of a mural depends on its size, design complexity, location, surface, and the specific needs of your project.
I price murals by the square foot, with a $2,500 minimum project cost. Painted logos are a $1,000 minimum. Whether you're envisioning a simple design or an immersive, highly detailed scene, I'll provide a personalized quote based on your project.
Mural Pricing Guide
Here's a general breakdown of how mural pricing works. Smooth surfaces are typically drywall while rough surfaces would be brick, metal, wood, etc. Variation in square foot price is based on design complexity.

These prices are a general guide, not a final quote. Actual pricing varies by project based on the design, wall dimensions, surface conditions, accessibility, and other requirements. Your custom quote will outline the costs for your specific project.
Your mural quote includes:
1-2 Designs with two rounds of approvals
Custom mural painting based on the approved design.
Paint and basic mural supplies.
The time and labor required to bring your mural to life.
What's Included in Your Mural Quote?
The following items are not included in the standard mural price and may incur additional fees:
Wall preparation and repairs.
Lifts, scaffolding, or other specialized access equipment.
Travel expenses for projects outside my local service area.
Any additional project-specific requirements outlined in your quote.
I'll discuss any anticipated additional costs with you before the project begins, so you know what to expect.
Deposits & Design Approval
Standard Mural Projects
A 50% deposit is due before design work begins. This secures your project in my schedule and allows me to begin developing your custom mural concept.
Projects Requiring Third-Party Approval
If your mural design needs approval from a building owner, property manager, city, or another decision-maker, we can arrange to do a design only stage fee for $1,500. This deposit is applied toward the final mural cost.
*This option is only available to those who require 3rd party approval.
Providing Your Own Design
Already have a finished design ready to paint? Great! If you provide the design, your mural will be priced at $5 less per square foot than my standard rate.
The design must be ready for execution and suitable for the wall and project requirements. Any requested design revisions, adaptations, or additional design work will be charged at my hourly rate of $100/hr.
Travel Murals
Have a wall outside the Charleston, South Carolina area? I'm open to traveling for the right project!
For murals requiring travel, all travel-related expenses are added to the mural cost. Depending on the project, these may include:
Flights.
Gas and mileage.
Rental cars or other local transportation.
Hotel or other accommodations.
Parking, tolls, and other necessary travel expenses.
Travel requirements and anticipated costs will be discussed and outlined in your quote before you commit to the project.
The Mural Process
1) Let's Talk About Your Vision
Start out by filling out my mural quote form which gives me a a great idea what you’re looking for in your mural. Have photos, dimensions of your wall(s), and design ideas ready to send. Then schedule your free, 30-minute consultation to discuss your business, your space, your ideas, and what you hope to accomplish with your mural. We’ll also discuss timeline and find a time to paint.
2) Design Deposit
I require a 50% deposit before starting any design work. Once a deposit has been paid I will send over 1-2 design concepts for your mural(s). Two rounds of edits are included. Anything outside of that will be charged at my hourly rate of $100/hr. I will mock up your design in your space you can get a real sense of what the mural will look and feel like.
3) Time to Paint
After the design is approved, I’ll come over and paint your mural(s)! Once the mural(s) are completed, the remaining 50% payment will be due. Then we celebrate because you'll have a custom mural that makes your space feel more personal, distinctive, and complete!
